This is a quick reference guide to all the things that you should know when taking on this noble cause, If you've any questions over & above what is supplied here, please feel free to email me in-game through the Lobby or directly on YIM as wyrmmlore.
If you are a Coach, you have received a Promotion to a Level 1 Admin status.
Coaches are not able to do a lot of the things that more experienced Admins can, however several options are still open to them.
having these features available to you is a privilege, and by no means a right.
If you are caught abusing the Admin features in any way, you will be demoted immediately and will no longer be able to Coach Games.
Please keep this in mind.
Games List: As either FEG Coach or in your own Admin section, This option brings you into a screen that shows you what games have been given to you to coach.
The most important keys in this screen are "Players", "Mail Players", and "K'ar Tuf Mailbox".
*The "Players" Button will show you all the players in the game, how much T and F they have, how many forms and when they last logged in.
*"Mail Players" does just that, it mails a message to all players in-game from K'ar Tuf.
*The "K'ar Tuf Mailbox" is where your players will be sending their mail/replys to.
It must be noted that due to technical difficulties with the K'ar tuf mail system, you will not be able to directly reply to a mail received in your K'ar tuf Mailbox.Make New Game: This is a key that is available to every level of Admin, However, Coaches are not allowed to create any games, Feel free to look but do not touch.
The way around this problem is to copy/paste their query over to the mail players tab & reply there.
I know that you are able to change a few aspects of the game, but do not do so unless otherwise directed.
*The Templates are not necessary, but they do cover the basics that new players should know &/or learn.
you can choose to either use the templates provided or make your own mails, wing it so to speak, certainly you should try to cover all subjects listed in the coaches corner.
Probably more importantly, you should try to deliver these lessens in an appropriate time frame, ie: no point in discussing expansion & forts at tick 10, this is certainly something that should be delivered very early in the game
To use the Templates, simply highlight the text body, and copy/paste it into your "Mail Players" Screen.
*Your job as coach is to show new Players their options and inform them of the world around them.
At no point are you to suggest the best strategy to a player, nor are you to win the game for them, feel free to point out several possibilities, but let them choose.
You are there to show them the Doors, they must be the ones to choose which one to open.
In-Game Coaching is proving to be quite a success, certainly new players feel much more comfortable talking to another player rather than the Mystical K'ar tuf.
How you Communicate in this instance is completely up to you, you can obviously mail players directly with this option
You may decide to still send the lessens from K'ar Tuf or simply send them directly to the players from the FEG Coach, another option is to place them in the strategy NG.
Don't be afraid to talk it up in the general NG also, not so much about lessens etc, but just to say hi, get a little banter going so they can see that Evernight is a friendly & welcoming environment
*Compliment your Game Winners & Encourage them to signup (if they have not already).
Suggest that they join a ToE or, if they've passed that scope, suggest some other games that are open to be played.
Mention the Adopt a Newbie program to new players who are considering subscribing, the thought of having their own personal tutor is quite often encouraging & again shows us to be a community that cares about our new players.
*Point your Noobs around EN, Suggest they check out the NG's and popular sites.
Give them links to things that you found helpful when you started out playing.
Basically be the Person that you wished were there when YOU started in Midia.
